Mike's love for music began at a very early age as he sang solos, duets, and trios
in his Church. At the age of seven, he began playing drums in his school band
and continued through high school, sometimes having to play the halftime shows
in his shoulder pads and football uniform! During this time, he also started a mobile deejay business (which he still operates today) and joined the R&B Band "EXPRESS," as drummer and lead vocalist. "EXPRESS" (Top 40, Funk, and Motown) traveled the East Coast playing for numerous nightclubs, college universities, and corporate functions. In 1987, Mike left "EXPRESS" to join "SOUTHBOUND", as drummer / vocalist. "SOUTHBOUND"(Country,Rock,Top 40,Beach) also gigged the East Coast opening for national artists, playing clubs, private parties, and festivals through the Carolinas and Virginia. During Mike's 18 year stint with "SOUTHBOUND", he also pulled double duty for a while as drummer for "THE ENTERTAINERS", one of beach music's most popular bands. Shortly after the demise of "SOUTHBOUND" , Mike met Dewey Young (Guitar,Vocals,Keyboard,Fiddle) and was invited to a rehearsal on a project for a new variety band. After meeting with the guys (Dewey Young,Doug Bass,Fred Don, and Brian Ramsey), Mike immediately jumped at the chance to be the front man for this talented group of musicians. Today, you'll find him doing exactly what he's happy doing....singing, playing music, and carrying on a bunch of BS!!!!! No doubt, Mike feels very fortunate to be a part of this unbelievable "KONNECTION". |
