Dewey Young |
Dewey Young comes from a long line of musicians. His father, Levy Young, played guitar, all of his uncles played music, as well as his Grandfather and Grandmother Young. when he was a child he would get up at 6:00 a.m. just to watch his Uncle bill Young play the fiddle on WTVD in Raleigh, N.C. Bill played on the Homer Briarhopper & Clyde Moody Show. While in high school, Dewey got his first real taste of R&B and Motown, backing up soul reviews that came out of Baltimore. He then started playing with Gerald Alston & The New Imperials. Once out of high school, Uncle Sam had another plan for Dewey. Dewey became a medic and was sent to Vietnam and Gerald went on to become lead singer with the Manhattans. After returning home, Dewey has played in seveal bands over the years, ranging from country, southern rock, beach music, and soul. He feels right at home playing with a great bunch of guys known as "The Konnection." |
